Damon Hill returns to Formula One after leaving Sky Sports
- Ludo van Denderen
1996 F1 world champion Damon Hill is returning behind the wheel of a Formula One car. The former world champion will give a demonstration in Adelaide, Australia next year. He will do so in his former 1992 Brabham F1 car.
Damon Hill drove eight Grands Prix in 1992 for the Brabham team, which ceased to exist at the end of the season. The team won two constructors' title wins and four drivers titles in its history. Hill only qualified for two races in 1992, in Britain and Hungary. In the other races, he did not go beyond qualifying. Brabham proved to be a great stepping stone, though, as he was able to join Williams a season later. There, he won three Grands Prix in his first year.
Hill was an analyst at Sky Sports after F1 career:
Hill captured his first and only world title in his final year with Williams in 1996. After leaving Frank Williams' racing stable, Hill joined Arrows and Jordan - with much less success. After his active F1 career, the Briton became an analyst for Sky Sports. He left there earlier this year, seeking a new challenge.
What exactly Hill will do is still unknown. In any case, in Adelaide, in the run-up to the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne, he will take his place in an F1 car once again, on a track where he fought many battles with Michael Schumacher and won twice.
