It was announced that Rosberg X Racing (RXR), founded by F1 world champion Nico Rosberg, will no longer compete in the Extreme E after the 2024 season. That is after the series will become Extreme H from 2025 onwards, with hydrogen-powered cars.

Rosberg's team won two titles in the Extreme E competition since it's inaugural season in 2021, and were also in the running this year before the final rounds of the season were cancelled.

Rosberg himself explained about the decision, "Building RXR wasn’t just about racing; it was about creating a purpose-driven team that could make a real difference. “From our championship wins to our environmental and equality initiatives, we’ve accomplished so much together. While it’s bittersweet to close this chapter, I am proud of what we’ve achieved."

Maximilian Wasler, director of commercial operations said: " This chapter of RXR has been really great. It’s rare to find a team so committed to winning and making a difference. "I’m proud of our achievements and look forward to seeing how the legacy of RXR will inspire future endeavours."

Hamilton's team also previously left

Previously, Nico Rosberg's former teammate, Lewis Hamilton also had a team in the competition. His team called X44 also competed in the Extreme E series, winning the title in the 2022 season. However, after that year, it was also announced that the Briton's team will no longer compete.
