Aston Martin optimistic: 'We'll soon have Yoda, and nothing can wrong'
After a rather disappointing season on track for Aston Martin in 2024, there are high expectations of the British team, especially for 2026. Many key figures will join the team, including top designer Adrian Newey from Red Bull Racing. Team principal Mike Krack is optimistic about the future, he shared in a video on the team's YouTube channel.
After a positive 2023 season for Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso where the Spanish driver could feature on the podium on many occasions, especially the second half of 2024 was hard for the Silverstone-based team. Since the Singapore GP, Alonso finished inside the Top 10 twice, and Lance Stroll couldn't score a single point since the Hungarian GP.
"Unfortunately, this year we did not have much to sing about and that is not good. We introduced that last year. I remember very well, at the first race. So let’s try to do our best so that we can cheer and sing that ['Oh Fernando Alonso'] song again," team principal Krack reflected.
'Nothing can go wrong for 2026'
The team principal from Luxembourg could only agree with the question when top designer Adrian Newey was compared to Yoda, especially given since the team are dressed in green. "I think Adrian will be the force to bring us forward, but I like the analogy [to Yoda]. The new simulator is really like Star Wars. All in all, I think it’s a great step forward for us. And once it is fully in use, I think it will be a great benefit."
Many wonder if Aston Martin will try to improve in the 2025 season as well, or will completely focus on 2026 to compete for the title then. "We are all trying to balance 2025 and 2026 as much as we can. At the moment, it’s full steam ahead with 2025 but with an eye on 2026. And we will have Yoda soon helping us and his force, so nothing can go wrong for 2026," Krack concluded.
