Verstappen sends blunt message to critics: 'Always will say what I think'
- Nicole Mulder
Max Verstappen has faced criticism several times throughout his Formula 1 career, but the Red Bull Racing driver generally doesn't pay much attention to it. 'I say what I think, and I will continue to do so,' was the message Verstappen reiterated. The four-time world champion made it clear once again that he isn't bothered by outside opinions.
Verstappen doesn't let anyone "runover him", both on and off the track. When asked if the criticism he receives causes him to doubt himself, he firmly responded in the negative. "It's not about having self-doubt or whatever. When people are critical, I will speak my mind as well, they are critical, I'm going to say what I think of that," the 27-year-old Dutchman explained in a conversation with Sportskeeda.
Verstappen: 'I don't let anyone take advantage of me'
"I don't let anyone take advantage or run over me or whatever. I speak my mind, and if I'm not happy with something or I don't agree with something, I will tell the particular person or whoever," he added.
When asked if his responses to criticism are always received fairly, Verstappen replied, "Not always, but I think that's also a bit to try and stir it all up. For me, when people ask me a question, most of the time, I will give an answer and my honest opinion about it."
