After the turn of the year, Lewis Hamilton officially started for his new employer: Ferrari. The Italian Formula 1 team is said to have developed a special test programme to ensure the seven-time world champion is given enough time to get used to his new car and new team.

'Ferrari develops special test programme for Hamilton'

According to the Italian branch of Motorsport.com, Ferrari has drawn up an 'elastic' test programme to best prepare Hamilton for the 2025 F1 season. This takes into account the stricter limits set by the FIA, which allow a thousand kilometres to be covered in older cars spread over four days.

The plan is reportedly for Hamilton to test first at Fiorano and then at Barcelona. The first test would be scheduled for 20 or 21 January, depending on the weather. The second test should take place at the end of January. The former Mercedes driver thus has a total of four days before he will make his first meters in Ferrari's new car after its launch on 19 February, a day after the joint livery unveiling of all teams at the O2 Arena in London.

After the four days that Ferrari can use to allow Hamilton to test in older cars and then the filming day with the new car, the then 40-year-old Briton will have the opportunity in Bahrain to get more mileage in the new car. The Bahrain International Circuit will host the winter test from 26 to 28 February.
