Peter Windsor believes that Lando Norris has a chance to take his first F1 world title in 2025. Over the last few Formula 1 seasons, Max Verstappen has been the dominant force, but in 2024, the Red Bull Racing driver faced a lot more competition. Six other drivers on the grid won multiple races in an action-packed year. F1 analyst and former team manager Peter Windsor therefore expects that in 2025, Norris could take the crown from Verstappen.

In 2024, Max Verstappen maintained his dominant form from the previous year, winning four of the first five races. However, the season saw a shift as Lando Norris and McLaren emerged as strong contenders in the mid-season, followed by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz showcasing impressive performances toward the end. With such fierce competition, Peter Windsor speculates that Norris could even enter 2025 as the title favourite.

'Norris can absolutely be world champion in 2025'

Speaking to Cameron CC, Windsor has absolutely no doubts about Norris' qualities. According to the Australian, the McLaren driver - provided he has a good car - is capable of beating the Dutchman. "Absolutely for sure. He could well be the world champion next year, there is no doubt about that. He's got a car capable of winning the world championship in front of him, so why won't he be able to compete for the title?", Windsor said.

"But so does Oscar Piastri," Windsor added. "So that will be a big challenge for him too, to beat Oscar to the championship," Windsor explained. Last season, Norris and Piastri won their first career F1 races. Norris won four races across the course of the season, with Piastri taking two. McLaren's consistency and good results earned the team its first constructors' title since their 1998 triumph. McLaren's driver pairing is the only of the top four teams which remains unchanged, as they'll be aiming to go back to back in 2025.
