According to Peter Windsor, Adrian Newey's influence at Aston Martin could already start to pay off next year. After the master designer can began working this his new team in March, Windsor has high hopes for the Briton.

Windsor curious about Newey influence already in 2025

According to Windsor, Newey are more than just a car designer. "He's also a great race engineer. He's also a great guy to get a car working. So I think anybody who discounts Aston Martin and Fernando Alonso from here on in, does so at their peril," the Australian explained in Cameron CC's podcast .

In addition, the 72-year-old journalist who also worked for Williams and Ferrari, expects that once every team prepares flexi wings, Newey's take on it will be interesting. "If everybody's talking about flexi wings, it's just a question of everybody having flexi wings. Well, okay, bring it on. Let's put the flexi wings on the Aston Martin controlled by Adrian Newey, and let's see how quick that car is," he said.

While a new regulation change comes into play in 2026, the current generation of cars will still have to compete at 24 Grands Prix. Newey can start working after his gardening leave on March 2, and therefore, could already influence his team's performance this upcoming season.

"It's not turn it around, I think it's just managing the car really well in terms of setup. And obviously he'd be able to do a few things to that car. It's not as if he's going to be able to redesign it, obviously not. But he's going to be able to do a few little tweaks for sure," Windsor concluded.
