Charles Leclerc elaborates on relationship with Carlos Sainz

Leclerc on relationship with Sainz: 'We'll spend a lot time off the track'

With Lewis Hamilton joining Ferrari for the 2025 season, Charles Leclerc will have to compete against the third different driver at the Scuderia this season. That decision also led to Carlos Sainz leaving the team. The Monegasque driver was asked about whether he will miss the Spaniard.

Leclerc wishes Sainz all the best

"Honestly, I've had an incredible relationship with Carlos. Really in terms of person, he's such a good person, we've always had a really, really good relationship. We've had our tension on the track sometimes but it's normal. At the end we are all racing for Ferrari but we're also racing to try and win races and when we are so close on track sometimes there are things that are not going to be agreed by both parties," Leclerc explained to GPblog and others.

"But I think the thing I'll remember is that every time there was these kind of things we always got out of it stronger and closer together. We have a really really good relationship. We also have a lot of things that we share outside the track," the Monegasque driver continued.

Next season, after getting replaced by Hamilton, Sainz will drive for Williams, alongside Alexander Albon. Still, Leclerc expects to spend some time with the Spaniard, as of course, he is still on the grid. "I'm sure that even though he won't be in red next year, we'll most likely still travel together to the races to spend some time together. Because our relationship is really good. I wish him the best," he concluded.
