Williams dropped two bombshells today with a pair of surprise announcements. First, they revealed plans for a special event to take place ahead of the F1 75 celebration. In a joint statement with Alpine, Williams also addressed the future of Argentine driver Franco Colapinto, shedding light on his next steps in the Formula 1 paddock.

Colapinto announced as Alpine Reserve for 2025

After weeks of rumours swirling around, Alpine and Williams have finally announced that Franco Colapinto will be joining Alpine for a multi-year contract. As Alpine already have a full driver line-up with Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan, Colapinto will be a test and reserve driver for Alpine during the 2025 Formula 1 season. He will join Paul Aaron and Ryo Hirakawa. The three will share driving duties for the Testing of Previous Cars Programme and the Simulator at Enstone.

Williams to launch special livery

Earlier today, it was announced that Williams Racing would be hosting a special livery launch on February 14th at the Silverstone circuit. The livery will be a "one-off" as the official 2025 livery will be revealed at the F1 75 event only four days later. Team principal James Vowles mentions how excited the team is and how hard they are working to "come back". In the announcement, Vowles said, "There is a tremendous amount to look forward to for Williams in 2025 – we have fantastic race drivers in Alex and Carlos, top engineers joining from across the grid, and new facilities becoming operational at our Grove HQ." Alongside Sainz and new engineers, Williams is also welcoming Santander as one of their new sponsors.
