Christian Horner is a big Max Verstappen fan. Like no other, the Red Bull Racing adviser admires his Dutch pupil, whom he once gave a chance in Formula 1 at the age of 16. In any case, Verstappen does not break that trust for a moment.

Meanwhile, the Dutchman is the best driver in Formula 1 by far, someone who has been able to call himself a four-time world champion for several months. Even with a car that was far from the fastest on the F1 grid, Verstappen managed to crown himself the best of 2024.

Looking back on that fourth title, Horner sums it up in one word: "Outstanding." The Brit then explains, among other things to GPblog. "The last couple of years he's won at a canter. This one he's had to really dig deep and he's applied himself, he's worked hard, he's put the mileage in, he's gone the extra yard with the engineers, spending time talking to the designers, to the R&D."

'Verstappen the inspiration'

Horner reckons that Red Bull Racing employs around a thousand people. "You need all of the departments to be working collectively to deliver big results. And I think what Max has done is he's really helped to inspire that and given phenomenal feedback and direction from what he's needed."

"When the tools weren't, the wind tunnel wasn't correlating with the track, it was his feedback that enabled us to focus on ‘this is the area you need to work on," Horner concluded.
