When asked a question about modern racing and the involvement of sim racing, Toto Wolff used someone to help him answer; his younger son. As many drivers nowadays are virtually racing more and more, Max Verstappen, for example, sim racing is changing how drivers work. The Austrian used his son as an example.

Speaking to Germany's Auto, Motor, and Sport, Wolff mentioned that his son not only drives on the physical circuits but also spends time in the simulator. When the Mercedes team principal took his son to Italy to race, his son had already driven on the circuit virtually.

Wolff talks about his son when asked about Verstappen

"Young people no longer distinguish between reality and the virtual world. The graphics are so good nowadays, and the way young people's minds work is different. My son sometimes drives 20 five-minute kart races in a row. Everything is in there: the start, crashes, everything. They have already been through so much," Wolff told the German medium.

The Mercedes team boss thinks it can be insanely good preparation for drivers. "Actually, you should recommend this kind of training to every driver. The older generation will probably struggle a bit more with it. And maybe it doesn't work for everyone like it does for Max either," he concluded.
