F1 Today | Antonelli can now drive, Verstappen teaches sim racing and Ferrari continues testing
- Savannah Lenz
It is not only the fans counting down the days until the Australian Grand Prix, but it is also the drivers, the teams and the Grand Prix organisers. The drivers have been busy completing side quests and press videos for their teams while some teams are out driving. On the logistical side of things, some circuits are making changes ahead of the season.
Antonelli passes driving test
Only a few Formula 1 drivers have gained their super license before they have received their actual driver's license. Andrea Kimi Antonelli is one of those drivers. As he tested and drove with Mercedes before he was 18, he was not yet eligible for his driver's license. Luckily for Antonelli, he was able to find time during the winter break to take the test and pass, as he turned 18 at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 season.

Verstappen teaches how to sim race
In a video for Castores Sim Racing Challenge, Max Verstappen teaches some of the members of the England Cricket Team how to sim race. Verstappen taught Will Jacks, Izzy Wong, and Reece Topley. The team takes to the sim after watching Verstappen. They take to Baku, which Verstappen says "is one of the most difficult tracks on the calendar". Verstappen coached them through their laps and even admitted that he was impressed with them as they managed to keep the car out of the wall. The fastest time was Wills, with Topley only four seconds slower but in last place.
Ferrari continue testing
Continuing the testing of their previous cars, Ferrari is in Barcelona with their 2025 drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. Ferrari has booked out the next few days to complete their testing however, they have the option to not use all three days. If they use all three days, they will not be able to run any more TPCs as they would have reached their limit.
Suzuka makes changes to circuit
In order to get ready for the 2025 Japanese Grand Prix, many changes have been made to the Suzuka circuit. Two parts of the track have been resurfaced with changes also made to the Kerbstones. The first and last sectors have been re-asphalted to add extra grip for the cars and their balance. Gravel has also been added around the outside of the track instead of grass.
