After the 2025 season is over, new regulations will be in effect in F1. There will be some new partnerships and collaborations on the grid as well in terms of manufacturing power units. Red Bull will create their own power units, together with Ford, as the American brand have already started 3D printing more than a thousand parts for Red Bull's '26 car.

In 2025, Red Bull Racing will complete their final season with Honda power units. The Japanese will then team up with Aston Martin, while a big challenge awaits the Austrians, with creating their very own engine, in collaboration with Ford. That is the first time in F1 that Red Bull will take on developing their own power units. The Americans meanwhile are already working hard, producing more than a thousand parts for the team's 2026 car, such as cooling plates, that tested through methods that are also used in the aerospace projects.

What are Ford doing ahead of the regulation changes?

"It’s not things like nuts and bolts and easy stuff," Christian Hertrich, the Ford Performance Motorsports Powertrain Manager began. "These are complex metal and polymer parts that get tested to extremes so they can withstand races that average 200 miles an hour."

While the original plan was for Ford to provide financial and technical support in the field of electrical compotents, they are also working with the Austrians to help develop the ICE and turbocharger as well.

"We’re pulling in all of these Ford teams with all of these areas of expertise to help in the program. It’s not just the motorsport group working on this. It’s amazing to see how many different areas of the company have already been involved."
