Gasly confident to defeat Verstappen and Norris: 'I will win!'
An interesting season awaits Pierre Gasly this upcoming year in Formula 1. After the comeback Alpine completed over the second half of the season that led to the Frenchman regularly fighting for points and a podium finish in Brazil, the driver must be curious to see if his team could make another step towards the front of the grid in 2025. While fighting for victories does not seem to be on the cards, Gasly knows an alternative way to defeat Max Verstappen.
Pierre Gasly is a true sports fanatic. Besides his work as an F1 driver, the Frenchman is, for example, co-owner of French football club FC Versailles. The former Red Bull Racing driver can also be found on the padel court more than regularly.
Padel tournament for F1 drivers imminent
Gasly is especially fond of other sports as well, not only Formula 1. The driver who doesn't shy away from a bit of football in the paddock is also the co-owner of French club FC Versailles. Moreover, he also enjoys padel, a sport that became quite a popular choice for drivers recently, together with golf.
Just to name a few: Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso, Lando Norris, Carlos Sainz, Alexander Albon and Charles Leclerc, all enjoy padel as well. "We all agree that we should organise a padel tournament between us (drivers). It could happen this year," Gasly told The Daily Mail.
According to Gasly, there isn't a clear favourite given their skills on the court, but he is yet to see what the entire field as to offer. "We love playing. We play together often and it gets quite competitive, which is pretty funny. There’s no standout player though I’m told the Spaniards are pretty good but I’ve not played against Carlos (Sainz) and Fernando (Alonso) yet."
Still, Gasly is confident in his abilities. Could the Frenchman defeat Verstappen, Norris and everyone else? When asked about who would win the tournament, Gasly clearly answered: "Myself!"
