An eighth season of Drive to Survive? The state of play!
- Ludo van Denderen
For fans, the long wait is almost over. On March 7, the new season of the popular Netflix series Drive to Survive will premiere. Will the seventh season also be the last? It certainly doesn't seem that way; GPblog has learned.
According to our information, plans are in place to closely follow the ten Formula 1 teams, their drivers, and their staff throughout the 2025 campaign. This should result in the eighth season of the docuseries, which, based on the release dates in previous years, will be available on Netflix in early March 2026.
Will there be an eighth season of Drive to Survive?
There is no official confirmation of Season 8 just yet. However, GPblog has learned that at least currently, the teams are working under the assumption that there will indeed be a new season, with Netflix's crew thus once again gaining behind-the-scenes access.
The 2025 season has plenty of storylines to follow. First, an exciting battle for the title is expected, with several drivers and teams thinking they have a serious chance of winning a championship. Moreover, there is bound to be plenty of coverage of Lewis Hamilton's first season at Ferrari.
However, Netflix's next season will not include exclusive footage of the seven-time world champion's first days with the Italian team. Indeed, the Netflix crew was not present during his first day or when Hamilton completed his first test kilometres.
