The Middle East Formula 4 championship has been rocked by a serious crash. Wang Yuzhe was launched into the air, flew over the crash barrier and crashed into the fence. He says he is especially grateful to the halo and the marshals for the fact that he miraculously got away without any serious injuries.

The accident happened during the first race of the weekend at the Dubai Autodrome. Footage shows Wang's F4 car hitting a kerb, resulting in it jumping up and going almost vertically in the air. It flew over the crash barrier into the fence, but miraculously, the Chinese driver got away without too many injuries. He was, however, taken off to hospital.

"The biggest accident of my life, even the worst I‘ve ever seen. But I don‘t have any problem, and thanks to halo and track rescue, they came just in time," the Pinnacle Motorsport driver wrote in an update on Instagram.

The F4 Middle East Championship is the successor to the Formula 4 UAE Championship, which was also held in the United Arab Emirates. The championship is divided into five race weekends, with three races each. 16-year-old Italian Emanuele Olivieri currently leads the standings.
