From 2017 to 2021, Valtteri Bottas was Lewis Hamilton's teammate at Mercedes. Bottas will once again return to Mercedes for the 2025 Formula 1 season. However, this time, Hamilton will not be there to greet him. Speaking to Sky Sports, Bottas talked about what he expects from Hamilton's move to Ferrari

Bottas and Hamilton were a highly successful duo together. Between 2017 and 2021, they won five constructors titles' with Bottas also supporting Hamilton in winning four driver's championship titles. After 2021, Bottas went to Alfa Romeo, which is now Sauber.

As Bottas returns to the 'Silver Arrows', he will be going home to completely fresh faces as Hamilton is no longer there. Instead, Hamilton has left for Ferrari, where he will attempt to win his eighth championship. Mercedes has not been able to keep up with Red Bull Racing since the previous regulation changes in 2022. They have not had the car to allow Hamilton to make another championship bid.

Despite not being a full-time driver for Mercedes, Bottas is still hoping for a good year with the team. He will help usher in a new driver, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, as well as help George Russell. Bottas was asked about Mercedes CEO Toto Wolff's comments on Hamilton winning if Mercedes can't. Bottas agreed with Wolff saying,  "Of course! think he's highly motivated for the year. It's something new and refreshing for him, which can be a good trigger sometimes; keen to see how he gets on with Charles."
