Thanks to his part on Max Verstappen's team and his guest appearances on sports podcasts, Callum Nicholas is one of the best-known Red Bull Racing personalities within the media. He is also an author as he wrote a book about the highs and lows of working as a Formula 1 mechanic. On the High Performance podcast, he talked about how hard Verstappen works for a good result and what frustrates him most about a race weekend.

After winning four championships in a row, Verstappen has elevated himself into a small group of the greatest F1 drivers of all time and according to F1 mechanic Nicholas, that should not mean that Verstappen has stopped working hard. He said, "Max will do absolutely anything required to win. So in terms of. In terms of the hard work, it's sort of limitless. He will do whatever it takes. He's made that absolutely clear".

Red Bull mechanics sometimes poke fun at Verstappen

While the mechanic will sometimes joke about the drivers, they know how hard verstappen works. Nicholas said they would poke fun at him, "We'll say, oh, yeah, flies in on a Thursday, flies out Sunday, nice private jet. But, all that other time, Max is in the sim or he's training, he's working on himself. He's focusing on his mental sort of state and preparation."

This frustrates Verstappen the most in Formula 1

Finally, the mechanic mentioned one thing that really frustrates Verstappen during a Grand Prix weekend. "I think the thing that Max dislikes the most would be all the media requirements. Max would quite happily just arrive, get in the car, and do his job. It's about prioritizing what you need to win and what you don't need to win".
