After being at the Circuito de Jerez for two days of testing, Pirelli has successfully completed the tyre test. Last week, testing also took place In Barcelona at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, but this time, the session took place further south in Spain. According to Pirelli president Mario Isola, the test was very valuable to Pirelli. Now, Pirelli will shift their focus onto developing the tyres for 2026.

Three teams took part in Pirelli's two-day test. In today's testing, Jack Doohan was active for Alpine, and George Russell joined his Mercedes. These two were the only drivers in action. However, they were able to tear up the track, with both drivers putting in over 100 laps. Doohan drove a total of 113 laps, and Russell drove 135. While the performances cannot really be compared, Doohan's fastest time was seven-tenths faster than Russell's. They were, however, on different programs.

Isola speaking after the Pirelli test

According to Mario Isola, Pirelli's head of motorsport, the test was very useful. "Yet another good test in the early days of 2025, thanks to the vital collaboration of the three teams involved. In addition to the data gathered in Paul Ricard and the Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, we now have a great deal of very important information from the Jerez circuit."

On the choosing of the circuits he said, "Even though it has not featured on the championship calendar for many years now, it is still an interesting test bench, partly down to the good weather it enjoys at this time of year. Now, we still have one more test session prior to the start of the 2025 season to bring to an end this initial and crucial phase of working on track.

He concluded, "The information gathered so far will allow us to direct our development in an ever more precise fashion for the coming tests."
