In 2025, Formula 1 will not be the only thing on Max Verstappen's mind. The Dutchman's first child will soon be born, and it is expected that will happen around the beginning of the upcoming season.
Verstappen to lose pace as a father? The Dutchman responds
Naturally, fans wonder whether the baby with seven F1 world titles in his family will follow Verstappen's and Kelly Piquet's father, Nelson Piquet's footsteps in the future, although the Dutchman explained that he would rather prefer his child working in the background as a mechanic or engineer.
Another common theme seen in Champions of old is that they become a few tenths slower once their child is born. A father takes less risks, or slows down in different situations, it is believed. In the past, some did become slower, but others were not affected by that saying at all.
Verstappen himself is not worried to lose pace once his first child is born "To be honest, I hope not a lot will change. In terms of driving, it shouldn’t," the driver began to explain at the ORBR Brand Shoot.
Verstappen now lives with his partner Kelly Piquet, the latter's first child Penelope, three cats and a dog. The Dutchman is looking forward to welcoming the next member of their family a lot. "It’s for sure very exciting. It’s very difficult to put that into words until the baby is born. But for sure I am looking forward to it a lot, and looking forward to that whole experience throughout the year."
