Lewis Hamilton has previously claimed that he could predict the course of the season based on the first few times in a new car. Despite the seven-time world champion backtracking a little from this statement, he feels very good in the Ferrari.

Since the new generation of cars, it has become more difficult for Hamilton to make a prediction during testing of what F1's pecking order will be once the season gets underway. "I think probably the last four years or so, I've learned that you really can't judge from too much from the first outlook," he said.

Hamilton feels better than in recent years

"For me, I definitely think in past years before that, particularly in the previous generation of car, it was much easier, I think, to know where you stood quite early on with that early feelin," the Briton said in Bahrain.

Still, Hamilton has a very good feeling with the Ferrari. "I would say this is the most positive feeling that I've had in a long time. That's all I can really say for now," concluded the seven-time world champion following a tough three-year spell at Mercedes.
