Herta himself questions possible Formula 1 adventure at Cadillac
F1 News

Colton Herta has been mentioned by Mario Andretti, a director in the board of Cadillac F1, as the lead candidate to take one of the two seats that will be made available when the team makes its debut in a year's time, however, the current Indycar driver is not sure he wants to make the switch over to Formula One, something TWG Motorsport CEO, Dan Towriss, supports.
Last weekend, the IndyCar season began in the United States with the first race being held in St Petersburg, Florida, where Herta after qualifying in P2, suffered a slow pitstop which saw him fall down the order taking away all his chances at a potential win, eventually finishing P16 at the flag.
It is not the first time Herta would question the move himself since he's always been vocal about his love for Indycar. “I’d be leaving a great group of people I really like working with, so it’s not a sure thing for me,” Herta said. “It’s not an easy decision, just to be like, ‘Alright, see you guys later.’ I’d be giving up an opportunity of maybe never working with these people again.”
Towriss would not have wanted a different answer
Dan Towriss, CEO of TWG Motorsport, appreciated his answer. “I think really what that shows you is how focused he is and how present he is in IndyCar, and so I love that,” He continued, “That’s exactly the answer that I would want Colton to give me. We are locked in on the goals for this year. He finished second last year, and he knows exactly what he could have changed last year, which races he would have changed. So a few moves away from that top spot."
Towriss concluded, “He’s worked hard in the offseason, the team has had a great offseason and you know, he wants it bad. It makes no sense for him to be thinking about Formula 1 both in terms of the series, but also what he needs to do (for a super license). So I love that answer.”
