Too crowded at Alpine for this champion? 'Didn't want to continue'

F2 driver and former F3 champion, Victor Martins, has spoken out about his Alpine exit, revealing it was a mutually agreed upon decision by both parties to part ways.
Following a less than inspiring 2024 F2 season, Martins and Alpine have decided to break ties, the ART Grand Prix driver revealed in conversation with select media including GPblog. "I don’t want to spend time on this, if I’m honest," said Martins bluntly of the decision.
Did it get too crowded at Alpine for Martins?
“We have parted ways. We didn’t actually speak about it because we didn’t want [to continue] on both sides because, in the end," revealed the F2 driver. With Franco Colapinto, Paul Aron and former McLaren reserve, Ryo Hirakawa, having been recently recruited by the Enstone-based team into its reserve and simulator driver roster there was little room for Martins in Alpine's structure. Could this have played a part in the decision?
"Let’s say my goal and their goal were not on the same line and that’s why we wanted to part ways," said the ART driver, before shifting the focus to 'the only thing that matters.' "But in the end, the past doesn’t matter. It’s only the future. I see my F2 season coming really quickly with ART and I’m fully focused on this. I will make no other comments on this one," concluded Martins.
