F1 Today: Horner case continues; Wolff's 'Verstappen promise' to Hamilton

4 March at 21:00

After Christian Horner's case surrounding alleged inappropriate behaviour ended after the team principal was acquitted last year, new developments came out today which have now resulted in the case continuing for the Red Bull team principal. Along with this, there has been a remarkable promise from Toto Wolff to Lewis Hamilton about Max Verstappen, and in the world of Formula 2, one of the leading talents in the junior formula is stepping away.

Horner's inappropriate behaviour case to continue

Earlier today, first reported by De Telelgraaf, and then confirmed by GPblog, the case of Christian Horner's alleged inappropriate behaviour looks to be continuing, despite the Brit being acquitted of any wrongdoing last year. This is because the Red Bull Racing employee, who has accused Horner, has gone to the UK employment tribunal, taking legal action over the decision.

As a result of those actions, this case will now be presented to the employment tribunal of the UK in January 2026, with the employment tribunal handling labour disputes between employers and employees.

There has also been a request from the Horner camp that a Reporting Restriction Order (RRO), which is often put in place for sensitive cases involving public figures in the UK, will be put in place, meaning the British media are no longer allowed to report on any case developments until the ban is lifted.

Wolff makes remarkable promise to Hamilton about Verstappen

Season seven of 'Drive To Survive' is to be released on Netflix on March 7, with many F1 fans ready for yet another instalment of the hugely popular series. However, there have already been a couple of previews for the new season, with one of them portraying a huge promise from Toto Wolff to Lewis Hamilton regarding Max Verstappen.

In a part of the preview that saw Wolff talked to his wife, former F1 test driver Susie Wolff, the Austrian said that he would not talk to Verstappen about joining Mercedes while Hamilton was there "because I promised Lewis not to talk to him".

However, after the seven-time world champion made the huge move that saw him leave the German team to join Ferrari, Wolff said he would then "have the conversation now" with the Dutchman to try and replace the Brit. Ultimately, although there were plenty of rumours surrounding the move, it was a move that did not come to fruition.

F2 talent steps away from racing due to 'personal reasons'

With just a week and a half to go until racing gets back underway at the Australian Grand Prix, many racers throughout all the different formulas would have been ready to get back out onto the circuit.

However, for Formula 2 talent Christian Mansell, that will not be the case in 2025. Just before his home Grand Prix takes place, the Australian has decided to step away from racing for the entirety of the season. "Just to let you know, for personal reasons, I have decided to step away from racing for a little while. Will keep you updated as to future plans," said the 20-year-old in a statement on social media.

His team Rodin Motorsport also made a statement, saying: "Rodin Motorsport can confirm that Christian Mansell has announced he will be taking a step away from racing. We will share further details on our lineup soon."
