This Formula 1 team uses their 'team culture' to control filiming

- Savannah Lenz
Formula 1 fans are split on their opinions of Drive to Survive. While some love the behind-the-scenes looks and the drama that comes with it, others find it unrealistic and unnecessary. However, for one team, they keep everything on a rigid structure when it comes to Drive to Survive.
Box To Box Films, the production company that works alongside Netflix, has the huge job of producing an entertaining show about Formula 1 racing. One of the people supplied by Box to Box Films is Piers Sanderson, who usually works with Haas and Ferrari.

In an interview with The Athletic, Sanderson explains that some team cultures play into how they are able to film for Drive to Survive. Ferrari, for example, is one of the teams where that comes into play. Sanderson said, “You don’t have continual access to the teams. And some teams, you get a little bit more access with and then others, you don’t. It’s all down to the culture of the team. With Ferrari, it’s all pre-requested.”
Regardless of what it is, recording something at random or spontaneously does not happen at Ferrari. While the drivers may reach out to them, like Charles Leclerc once did to Sanderson for Season 6 footage, the team itself maintains its privacy when it comes to DTS. Ferrari, like Mercedes, did not participate in season one of Drive to Survive but have since been present in seasons two through seven.
