Alex Crivillé, the former MotoGP rider, believes that Marc Márquez could be as dominant in MotoGP as Max Verstappen was in Formula 1 during the 2023 season. Márquez, who won the opening round of the new season in Thailand, and Crivillé thinks that the Spanish rider has the potential to maintain that level of dominance throughout the season.

Similarities between the MotoGP season and F1 season

The MotoGP season, which started last weekend, has as many races as the 2023 Formula 1 season. Verstappen, now a four-time consecutive world champion, won no fewer than 19 of 22 races that season and became world champion well before the final race of the season. A similar scenario could follow for Spain's Márquez, who has already won six MotoGP world championships and could now grab his seventh.

Crivillé, who became champion in the 125cc in 1989 and champion in the 500cc in 1999, thinks Márquez is a bit like Verstappen. MotoGP's 2025 season could resemble the 2023 Formula 1 season, in which Verstappen was so dominant.

'Favourite' Marquez compared to Verstappen

"The favourite is clearly Marc Márquez. I see Marc very happy because he sees that his brother has made huge progress and is in a position to finish on the podium, very close to him. From there, Bagnaia will have to recover to try to fight for that world title, because Marc is clearly superior and in top form this season. I would even say he reminds me a bit of Verstappen in Formula 1, who went out on the track and made it look effortless. It seems that something similar could happen," the Spaniard told Radio Marca
