AIX Racing's Joshua Durksen took the F2 field by surprise last year. With a surprise last minute announcement, the Paraguayan born driver stormed through the field and sealed off his maiden F2 campaign with two wins and four podiums total, but this year, as he eyes a future F1 promotion, he sets his sights on a clear goal.

The Paraguayan youngster is charismatic. Smiles and laughs with the journalists as he receives each question with a particular warmth. Responding to a question made by GPblog, regarding the ultimate goal of reaching F1, Durksen's approach, does not change. He confidently replies: "Yes, for sure. I think this is the target."

Elaborating further on what will be required from him and his team to give him the best chances of reaching that target, Durksen is clear. "I think if we do things right. I can be fighting for the championship. Like I said, if we just keep developing as we did last year, I'm very sure we can be fighting at the top in the front rows."

'Being constant will be the key to F2 title,' and perhaps an F1 promotion?

As in 2024, the 2025 F2 season will be terribly competitive, something the mature Paraguayan is aware of. "There will be many different race winners. It will be really tough, I think, just to be always on top. But for sure, I think if I'm constantly around the top five, top seven, I will have great chances of fighting for the championship."

So Durksen knows what he has to do since the moment the lights go out in Melbourne for the first race of the F2 season, until the flag drops in Abu Dhabi come next December, to have the best chances to earn a promotion to F1. "Just being consistently in the front, just getting points. And I think if I'm always connected with the front, I'm quite sure I can fight for the championship," the hungry Paraguayan concludes.
