Hamilton feels no pressure to 'prove anything to anybody' at Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton has responded to claims that he will feel pressure as he makes his Ferrari debut at the Australian Grand Prix this weekend. Arguably the highest-profile move in Formula 1 history naturally comes with a lot of pressure. On media day in Melbourne, the seven-time world champion was asked during the press conference if he felt any pressure as he prepared for his maiden race with Ferrari.

"I don't really read the news, and I don't really, I go for long, long periods of time without social media, so I'm not like being bombarded with all the stuff that's on social media. So I'm kind of living in my own little bubble in my head," the Brit began. "For me, I'm, I'm back at kind of square one. I'm, I'm really just putting all the time I have in, I've been at the factory like four days a week. I've been given absolutely everything to, to training to push my mind and my body in, into further than I have before."

Hamilton 'doesn't feel' pressure on his shoulders

Hamilton, as he stated himself, has been working hard to acclimatise himself with Ferrari after a 12-year stint with Mercedes. "I'm trying to see if I can excel and just squeeze more juice out this that I have and under no assumptions that it's, it's, it will be easy. It is not, and as I said I know what I, I have but I don't feel, I don't feel the pressure. I just like the outside pressure.

"Their ideas are non-existent for me, the pressure is from within and what I want to achieve. I'm not here to prove anything to anybody. I don't feel I have to do anything.

Hamilton: Ferrari 'deserves success'

"I've been here a long, long time and done it time and time again. So I think for now it's more. I know, as I said, I know what it takes to do a good job, and that's what I want to deliver for myself, for myself and for my family, for this team that I really believe deserves success.

"And I can see like Carlos's experience in his new team just when you see such a large group of people that are clearly so passionate and driven and maybe have not had as much success as they would like or than they deserve, you just want to work towards and contribute to doing that," Hamilton concluded his sharp response.
