George Russell reacts to Drive to Survive Netflix series and own footage

Violent Netflix footage leaves Russell cold: 'I don't care'

Ahead of the Australian Grand Prix, George Russell was asked regarding his thoughts on how Netflix's Drive to Survive portrayed him in its latest season. The Mercedes driver, however, denies seeing a particular episode in full.

Russell did not watch Drive to Survive

Intense was the footage that showed Russell hyperventilating after the race in Singapore. While the Briton did make it up to the half mark of the episode, 'technical difficulties' prevented him from seeing the rest.

"No. I've gotta be honest. I've not seen the episode in full," Russell explained. "I did hear, and I was fed back that it was, like, two extremes from the first half to the last half. But, ultimately, I don't really care how I'm portrayed there. I care how I perform in the car and how I work with my team, to be honest."

"There's always an agenda for the best storyline possible, and that's just the way the world is with these entertainment programs. So as I said, I haven't even seen it, and it's not something that concerns me," the Mercedes driver concluded.

Verstappen hasn't seen it either

One driver who has not watched the series either is Max Verstappen. "I am not surprised. I didn't watch it either, but unfortunately you can't get out of it because those things come up on social media. You just have to ignore that quickly so it doesn't come back in your feed again'," Verstappen said of the series' creative editing.
