Does Piastri have an edge on Norris? 'Pace was strong'
F1 News

Though Oscar Piastri came in second behind Ferrari's Charles Leclerc, he did manage to beat teammate, Lando Norris in FP2, and speaking to Sky Sports the Australian is more optimistic than his McLaren teammate's.
While Norris defined his feelings after the session as lacking in confidence in the MCL39's performance in low fuel runs, Piastri begs to differ from his teammate.Â
"It was pretty encouraging," the Australian sumed the session up in conversation with Sky Sports. "The pace was pretty solid. Still a few things to iron out to make the car feel a bit nicer but the underlying pace was strong," he added, which is confirmed by his outirght pace being enough to take P2 after the second practice session in Albert Park.
Piastri happy with first day of action in 2025
"I’m happy with the days' work," he continued. While on Friday the sun was shining on the Australian circuit, the weather is ecpected to change in the following two days of action of the race weeknd, so today's results must be taken with a pinch of salt. "I think conditions will be different the next two days, so how much today means I don’t know but it feels good," Piastri concluded.
