Ferrari cautious: 'That doesn't define the whole season'

D'Ambrosio cautious about Ferrari chances in 2025

While a performance-based F1 hierarchy can't really be made out yet, Ferrari is seen by some as one of the favourites for this year. The Scuderia's development in the last stretch of the 2024 season was indeed effective, and it seems convinced it can continue to improve this year. Yet Jerome d'Ambrosio, Fred Vasseur's right-hand man, does not want the Italian team to get ahead of itself just yet.

So far in 2025, only free practice and three winter testing days are already in the books, rendering it too early to have a concrete idea of where teams stand in the pecking order. What is clear, however, is that the margins are very small between them this season, and so the world of Formula 1 is set to have an exciting season this year. After the first free practice session, D'Ambrosio spoke to media, including GPblog, in the paddock about the Scuderia's form with an outlook on the hierarchy.

Ferrari is keeping a low profile

"There’s no worrying signs," D'Ambrosio stressed. "We’re happy with how Bahrain went, but that means very little down the line. Because we’re in relative sport. So let’s see where we are here, and I think equally that where we will end up here doesn’t necessarily define the whole season."

"It’s always good, I think, to put things into context," he continued. "And if you look at last season, the result of the first two races and then the result of the championship and constructors’ championship was very different. I think it’s important to be able to put things into perspective, chip at it bits by bits, and then we’ll see," the Ferrari man concluded.
