Former Ferrari team manager warns: "We should not judge the speed of Ferrari yet"
Former Ferrari team manager Stefano Domenicali warns against judging the speed of the Ferrari too soon. He admits Scuderia had a slow start in Melbourne but suggests we need to wait until Bahrain for a true litmus test.
Sebastian Vettel was left to eat Mercedes dust during the Australian Grand Prix while he was also overtaken by Max Verstappen's Red Bull. The result went against all of the indications from pre-season testing.
Domenicali, who was at the helm of the Scuderia between 2007 and 2014, said the following: "They had a tough weekend and they couldn't show the performance they did in Barcelona," Stefano told F1only.fr.
"We know that Melbourne is different from other races and therefore we should not judge too quickly. Bahrain, therefore, becomes very important to see how fast the Ferrari really is. They need to understand why they were so slow in Melbourne. It is clear that something was not working properly," he finally said.
