Australian Grand Prix start time possibly adjusted due to threat of rain
The FIA, Formula One, and Australian Grand Prix organisers have met to discuss moving the Australian Grand Prix. With the rain forecast, they are not wanting to chance it and risk a repeat of races like the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix.
The FIA has confirmed to GPBlog that the FIA, F1, and Melbourne's organisers have held talks on Friday about alternative start times for the race. Locally, the race will start at 15:00, but heavy rain is expected around that time, so they are looking at possible alternatives.
Rain on the way in Australia
The 2021 Belgian Grand Prix is a perfect example of a race that should not be repeated. Fans want to see actual racing, with the Australian Grand Prix being the first race of the 2025 season, not an attempt at racing.
After being cut short, the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix is the shortest race in Formula 1 history. What was driven in the race was driven under a safety car.
The Chinese Grand Prix will take place next weekend, giving the organisers no other option as the race can not be held on Monday. Therefore, consideration is being made to bring the race forward or abandon it. Starting behind the safety car could also be an option, and drivers would prefer a rolling start behind the safety car to a standing start.
