Things did not quite go according to plan at Ferrari during the first race of the 2025 season. While other teams can look back with satisfaction, Ferrari can not. McLaren, Red Bull Racing and Mercedes all had a driver on the podium, whereas the Ferrari drivers barely made it into the points. Peter Windsor explains how this makes them look.

Windsor did not appreciate many things that Ferrari did during the Australian Prix, including their radio messages. While fans could laugh at the messages between Leclerc and his race engineer, Windsor could not.

Windsor on Leclerc, Hamilton and Ferrari team

"There's been a lot of weird radio transmissions going on with Ferrari as well. It's almost becoming uncomfortable, especially with Charles Leclerc giving his engineer a hard time for mentioning the water he was feeling in the cockpit, which was actually from the water bottle. But he didn't elaborate on that. Charles then said, well, yeah, things were stating the obvious. I know that'll go viral, and everyone will think it's very funny, but I don't think it's particularly funny in the middle of a race when an engineer is clearly trying to help the driver", Windsor said in an analysis on his YouTube channel.

"On Lewis's side, there was a lot to do with the DRS and various switches. He kept insisting, "I can handle it. I can handle it." However, he didn't manage to get past Alex Albon. For a Ferrari driver to get beaten, admittedly in his first Grand Prix, and to be outraced by Alex Albon in the Williams is a bit embarrassing, to be honest. I was quite surprised that Lewis was taking such a rather dogmatic approach on the radio. I'm sure the team on the pit wall was thinking, "What is going on here? Why can't he get past him?" That was a bit disappointing as they finished 10th."
