Lewis Hamilton's debut in a Ferrari did not go well for him or For Ferrari. The Australian Grand Prix was not the start to the season they had hoped for. Charles Leclerc crossed the line in eighth place, but his teammate Hamilton barely managed to grab a point for the championship. Martin Brundle wrote about the seven-time world champion's debut at Ferrari in his column.

Ferrari made a terrible strategy call that ended up ruining both drivers' races. The drivers suffered a blow to their positions after taking a gamble that did not pay off.  Both drivers stayed out on slicks for a while despite the rain starting to fall. Brundle wrote in his column for Sky Sports, "Despite lots of happy words and reasons why he had to learn his steering wheel and other new aspects, Lewis Hamilton had a disappointing start to his Ferrari career by any metric."

Brundle on Hamilton's board radio

Hamilton's board radio was shown a few times during the race. As this is his first race with the Italian team, Hamilton and Riccardo Adami are still learning each other. After Hamilton crossed the line in 10th, Brundle said he did not understand the board radio messages from Hamilton.

Brundle wrote, "I don't understand why Lewis was so angsty with his engineer Riccardo Adami, who I felt was simply trying to pass over relevant and helpful information. It all really fell apart for Ferrari when they rolled the dice on dry tyres on a wet track and lost out heavily on track position for both drivers, and they left Australia seventh in the championship."
