Hamilton upbeat thinking of Ferrari 'first times'
- Mitchel van der Hoef
The 2025 Australian Grand Prix marked the beginning of a new chapter in Lewis Hamilton’s Formula 1 career as he made his debut with Scuderia Ferrari. Speaking at Ferrari’s Paddock Club for the first time, the seven-time world champion expressed his excitement about this new phase of his journey.
"Every day with this team, it's always a first. It's my first paddock club," Hamilton began. "I've never been here. I've been coming to Grands Prix for nearly 20 years. I've just walked past the [Ferrari] part outside, I've never seen inside. It's good to see you guys!" Hamilton said in good spirits.
"My first FP1, my first practice session, my first weekend, Grand Prix weekend with the team. Me and Charles (Leclerc) just did the fan stadium forum. It's the first time as a Ferrari driver. Everything is new, it's really cool."
Hamilton will hope for a better Chinese Grand Prix
Hamilton's debut weekend in Australia came with its challenges. Struggling to find the right setup, the seven-time world champion had a tough start, ultimately finishing in a disappointing 10th place.
Whether Hamilton can secure his eighth world title with Ferrari remains uncertain. Many former champions, including Fernando Alonso and Sebastian Vettel, have tried and failed to claim a title for the Italian team. Kimi Räikkönen remains Ferrari’s last drivers’ champion, having won in 2007. Nearly two decades later, can Hamilton finally bring glory back to Maranello?
