Red Bull changes Verstappen's set-up: "Hopefully that will help"
Max Verstappen struggled with his car during qualifying, he said on Saturday. The Red Bull Racing driver therefore says things were changed to his car before the Grand Prix.
The Dutchman began by saying, "It was not the easiest [qualifying], but I think it was not easy for everyone," while speaking at the drivers' parade around the Shanghai International Circuit.
"The track is very good, very nice to drive. I think the tarmac does make it very tricky to understand what you exactly need from the car and the tyres. So I guess we struggled a bit with that. But let's see what we're going to get today. It might be an exciting race with a lot of deg anyway, right? So, hopefully, we can be a bit better than what we were yesterday."
Red Bull makes change to set-up Verstappen
After qualifying, Verstappen stated that he needed a crash of someone ahead of him to have a chance of winning. But now, on Sunday, the Dutchman is a bit more positive: "Well, I don't think we're the quickest, but let's see. We've made some changes to the car yesterday after the sprint, and hopefully, that will help our tyres out today in the race."
Verstappen also pointed out that he might be able to make significant strides in the first corner. To this, the Dutchman responded: "Yeah, there is a possibility, of course, we'll go for that. But, at the end of the day, you want to stay out of trouble because you can also pick up damage, so we will just see what happens. Hopefully, we can then follow the cars ahead, and then it's still a very long race with a lot of question marks."
