Could a second Formula 1 Grand Prix be hosted in China? Toto Wolff would be open to that idea in principle, given what he has seen this past weekend in Shanghai, as he enjoyed the atmosphere at the track.

After the conclusion of the Chinese Grand Prix, Toto Wolff was asked in the paddock about a second Grand Prix hosted as well in the country. Wolff himself has nothing against that idea, after what he saw this weekend. "I stood on the grid today and looking at the packed grandstands all along the main straight and into Turn 1 it's great to see the enthusiasm and excitement," the Mercedes team principal began.

"Also the knowledge the fans understand Formula 1, they know the drivers, they are excited for it and that is great," he continued. "I mean, if there is a second race that comes in, it's the biggest economy in the world, why not? As long as we keep the enthusiasm so high."

Mercedes managed to have a positive weekend at the Shanghai International Circuit this year. George Russell finished the Grand Prix on the podium in P3, after qualifying on the first row of the grid. Andrea Kimi Antonelli originally crossed the finish line in P8, but gained two further positions after the two Ferrari drivers, Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc were disqualified.
