Max Verstappen denies "funny" Mercedes rumours

Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen thinks the rumours of him having frequent calls with Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff are "funny", as the Dutchman explains that Wolff doesn't even have his number.
Before Verstappen initially signed at Red Bull and made his F1 debut at Toro Rosso, Mercedes were known to be very interested in the youngster's services as well.
Helmut Marko, Red Bull's advisor, recently stated that Wolff makes frequent calls to the Verstappen family, setting off rumours about Verstappen's future. The 21-year-old was quick to shoot those rumours down, though.
“I was surprised when I read that because first of all I never speak to Toto," Verstappen told RaceFans.
"He never calls me. He doesn’t even have my number. So I found it funny."
Verstappen did concede that his father Jos has conversations with Wolff, but this doesn't involve Formula 1.
"[Toto] and [Jos] do talk sometimes but it’s mainly about babies and go-karting.”
