Lewis Hamilton is "not going to focus" on fastest lap extra point
Lewis Hamilton believes that the extra point drivers receive for getting the fastest lap during a Grand Prix is not going to determine the championship standings come the end of the season. Instead, the Brit is going to focus on winning as many races as he can in his bid to win another World Title.
“I didn’t think about it,” Hamilton said to Crash.net after the race in Baku.
“In these four races, we’ve understood what happens is usually towards the end of the race, if someone has a free stop, they stop and take it.
“So I just focus on trying to get maximum race points.
“I don’t think this is going to be a focus for me through the rest of the year.”
Sitting in second, one point behind teammate Valtteri Bottas who won an additional point for fastest lap in Australia, Hamilton will hope that he doesn't miss out on a championship win by a few points.
