Marc Surer defends Ferrari's Mick Schumacher after weak start in F2
Mick Schumacher is currently P12 in the Formula 2 championship. The son of Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher had a brilliant season in Formula 3 last year, but it isn't going so well in 2019.
Former Formula 1 driver Marc Surer defends Schumacher as he expected the German to be making a few mistakes at this stage of his career.
"He may make some mistakes, but those are generally minor things. In your first season, it is mainly scanning. Just give the poor boy some time to find his way. Now every small error is zoomed in and gets the wind from the front. That while the same mistake of every other driver is accepted," Surer said in a conversation with Motorsport-Total.
Nicholas Latifi, who is rumoured to be replacing Robert Kubica, leads the Formula 2 championship. Latifi is currently driving in his third Formula 2 season, proving that it takes time for the youngsters to develop.
“And if you look at Mick and compare him with his father, Mick is already much more talkative. He is really well trained and works well. He really got everything to be much more mature now," Surer added.
Schumacher has already been out in a Formula 1 car. He did two test days, one for Ferrari and one for Alfa Romeo.
