Leclerc fuming after Q1 exit: "I need some explanations"
- Nicolás Quarles van Ufford
After a shocking Q1 exit, Ferrari star Charles Leclerc was left fuming at the team's decision not to come out for a second run, with the Monegasque saying he needs some explanation from his bosses.
Coming into the weekend and after leading the lap times in FP3, home driver Leclerc was hyped up to have a statement performance in the Principality, but it wasn't to be when it came to it during qualifying.
It is well-known how hard or nearly impossible it is to overtake in Monaco, so having a good starting position is crucial.
Leclerc had a flawed first run in Q1 but Ferrari opted to leave him in without making a second run at it. This left him puzzled.
"I don't have any explanation," he was quoted by BBC Sport.
"Very difficult one to take. We had plenty of time to go out again. I need some explanations.
"Hopefully there will be rain tomorrow and that will be a lottery. If it is dry it will be boring. I will have to take a lot of risks tomorrow because this is a track that is basically impossible to overtake on.
"It is disappointing. It has been a difficult day and hopefully tomorrow will be better."
