Vettel claims Ferrari are in a "good situation" despite Alonso replacement rumour
There have been rumours reported that Fernando Alonso could replace Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari next season but the German believes the set up at the team currently is the right one. Vettel has said that he believes the competition between himself and Leclerc is what is needed for the team to perform at its best.
"I think it's positive, we are pushing each other," Vettel said to GPToday. "In fairness, we're keeping the respect. I don't think I ever had easy teammates in the past.
"I don't think Kimi is slow, obviously they are different. They're different people, different drivers, different style, but it became apparent for good reasons that Charles is very talented and fast.
"It's a good situation for the team to push the car and explore limitations, trying to, first of all, find out what they are and then to fix them."
Although Vettel has not been winning races this season Ferrari are probably more to blame than his driving. It would be unlikely to see Alonso replace Vettel but in the world of Formula 1 anything is possible.
