Red Bull promise no mid-season driver changes
Helmut Marko believes that Pierre Gasly will not be replaced mid-season despite the Frenchman's lack of performance so far this season. Having been promoted from Toro Rosso after only one year in the sport, Gasly has struggled to get the necessary results to satisfy Red Bull fans with many of them calling for him to be replaced.
It seems that Gasly won't be replaced mid-season, much like Daniil Kvyat was, but instead given time to improve and develop with the car.
“Pierre (Gasly) works very hard within the team and that is why he is much more often in the simulator," Marko said after the Austrian Grand Prix. "Also at this time and that is why he is not present here now, "
“We also have no plans to replace him with another driver. He works with a young engineer and that doesn't really help either. In addition, he has lost the necessary confidence with the crashes in Barcelona."
“We have also seen a number of strong races from Pierre and we will work together to pull him out. Thinking about the 2020 lineup, we won't do that until September or October."
Gasly will need to start performing soon if he is to hold onto his seat at Red Bull as so far this year he has been totally dominated by his teammate and has not beaten him in a single race this season.
