Lando Norris says McLaren is aiming for P3 after positive start to F1 season
During the early stages of the Austrian Grand Prix, Lando Norris found himself fighting Lewis Hamilton at the front of the grid. The Mercedes car found a way through easy enough, but Norris says McLaren is aiming to be in P3 more often.
Norris has played a key role in McLaren's revival this season. At the start of the year, 'best of the rest' would have seemed like the absolute maximum for the Woking-based team. But with some distance between themselves and rivals Renault, they can start looking upwards.
Speaking in the drivers' press conference, it was clear the 19-year-old enjoyed his fight with five-time world champion Hamilton.
"It was cool, I got past him [Hamilton], in turn 1 which was nice of him, he didn't force me off or anything. Then he just had a better position down the straight. It would have been nice to hang on longer than I did, but that position is the aim for us. We want to be in P3," Norris said.
