Williams open up on Robert Kubica's future
Many have been critical of Robert Kubica's performances so far this season and a large number of fans do not expect to see him in the sport next season. However, Claire Williams has told the media that they are happy with what Kubica is doing and is adamant that there are "no frustrations from the team."
George Russell has consistently outperformed Kubica and this had led to speculation about the Pole's future at the team. However, the team's Deputy Principal shuts down the rumors.
"I find speculation quite frustrating because unless you actually know on the inside, you don’t know what’s going on," Claire Williams was quoted by F1i.com.
"Our relationship with Robert is as strong as it was. He’s getting his head down and he's doing what he needs to do, and we’re trying to do everything that we can to give him a better car so that he can perform at the level he wants to.
"As far as I’m concerned, there are no frustrations from our side. I’m sure he has a level of frustration because he doesn’t have the equipment that he would like at the moment."
Some believe that the difference in pace between the two drivers is due to a difference in their cars but this was shut down as well.
"There is absolutely no difference between George and Robert’s car," she said.
"If anything else, we don’t have the budget to create two different types of race cars. So this speculation is just crazy.
"We do everything to make sure that both George and Robert have the same equipment, the same test items at every race weekend that we can to give them the best opportunity going into Saturday and Sunday."
Williams will hope to improve at their home Grand Prix this weekend and Kubica will hope to beat his teammate in a bid to secure his future.
