Honda: "Very disappointing to lose a guaranteed podium finish"
After a postive weekend in Austria where Honda picked up their first race win since their return to the sport, feelings are different after the British Grand Prix. Similar to the bosses at Red Bull, Toyoharu Tanabe belives Max Verstappen lost a certain podium when Sebastian Vettel crashed into him.
Tanabe explains how he feels on Honda's Twitter account: “It is very disappointing to lose a guaranteed podium finish from Max due to the crash. Especially because he was so busy. On the positive side, Pierrehad his best weekend of the year, equaling his best result from his career - fourth place."
At Toro Rosso, it seemed that the team would end up strong with two cars in the points, but just before the end, Alexander Albon lost a lot of pace. “Thanks to good speed and strong strategy, Daniil was able to work his way up from seventeenth to the final points. Unfortunately Alex dropped out of the points in the last rounds. He couldn't make the second pit stop that was needed. This was related to the motor, since the data showed a high voltage problem. So we advised the team not to make a second stop based on safety," says Honda CEO.
