Steiner: "The best that our drivers could bring to the battle was a shovel"
Haas will want to forget the whole race weekend at Silverstone. Before a wheel was even turned, Rich Energy made 'that' tweet. And then Romain Grosjean spun in the pit lane ahead of his installation lap in FP1. During the British Grand Prix, the two Haas drivers collided early on and two DNFs followed.
Guenther Steiner was particularly frustrated with the performance on the track. Those who have watched the Formula 1 Netflix series might be guessing what Steiner's reaction was. Having had a poor race in Austria, the Haas boss was desperate for a recovery. He got the opposite.
“It was a very disappointing race for us. I’m just stating the obvious here. The best that our drivers could bring to the battle was a shovel – to dig the hole we’re in even deeper. We need to go back, regroup, and see what we do in the future," Steiner said.
The collision retired both Kevin Magnussen and Grosjean almost immediately. With the likes of Kimi Raikkonen and Daniil Kvyat scoring points, Haas' deficit to the midfield grows.
