George Russell is "not worried" about his reputation after racing for Williams
George Russell is not worried that his reputation has been ruined after racing for Williams at the back of the grid. Out of all the debut Formula 1 drivers this season, Russell has been the most unfortunate, joining a team that has been unable to compete. However, Russell believes that he has still shown he is fast and is not worried about his reputation.
"No, I'm not worried," Russell told France's Auto Hebdo.
"I know that my career depends on a small group of people like Claire Williams and Toto Wolff. Only they are aware of the situation and know how well I am doing my job.
"I'm happy for Lando and Alex. If young drivers are able to show that they can fight against more experienced rivals, that's good for me too."
Russell will be disappointed not to have been racing in the midfield with Norris and Albon but will gain confidence from consistently beating his teammate.
"I don't really compare myself with my teammate, but if I can look good against a teammate then that's always good," he said.
Russell will hope that opportunities for him to race further up the grid arise in the near future.
