Carlos Sainz learnt more about McLaren's problems at Silverstone
At the British Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz learnt that his McLaren still struggled through the low-speed corners and believes that if the team are to close the gap to Red Bull then this is where the team need to improve. McLaren are the fastest midfield team and even faster than the team that supplies their engine. However, McLaren isn't happy with 4th place and want to keep pushing.
"We need to improve the car at low speed,” Sainz said via the official Formula 1 website.
“That is what’s going to give us the edge, which at the moment we don’t have.
“The only thing that we know is that we haven’t cleared the midfield yet. Many people wanted us to be already clear of the midfield, but we haven’t. We still are with the Renaults, they are battling."
McLaren will hope to fix the low-speed corner issue out in time for the German Grand Prix where they will aim to take the scalp of a Red Bull.
